Consignor Guidelines

Selling your items at RUMCK is all about simplicity and success! We’ve put together these guidelines to help you prepare, price, and present your items so they sell quickly — while keeping things safe and organized for everyone.

What You Can Sell

We accept gently-used, high-quality children’s items that families are looking for. Think of what you’d happily pass on to a friend or neighbor.
  • Children’s clothing (sizes newborn – 14)
  • Like-new shoes and accessories
  • Maternity clothing
  • Baby gear (strollers, bouncers, high chairs, etc.)
  • Nursery décor and play sets
  • Books, DVDs, and toys
Season Reminder: Please remember to sell only seasonal attire that matches the sale date.

Items We Cannot Accept

To keep quality high and ensure safety, we cannot accept:
  • Stained, torn, or excessively worn clothing
  • Flip flops, underwear, tights
  • Used bottles, nipples, or sippy cups
  • Stuffed animals and fast-food toys
  • Recalled or unsafe items (check at www.cpsc.gov)
  • Car seats and drop-side cribs
  • Toys or clothes with lead-based paint or drawstrings
Quick Tip: Before tagging, double-check your items against recall lists. We also require all consignors to sign an affidavit at drop-off confirming items are safe.

Preparing Your Items

A well-prepared item sells faster! Follow these guidelines to sell more items!

Clothing

  • Clean, wrinkle-free, and free of stains, holes, or missing buttons.
  • Hang each piece on a wire hanger (hook facing left like a question mark).
  • Secure clothing with safety pins if needed.

Other Items

  • Ensure toys and electronics have all pieces and working batteries.
  • Bundle small sets (shoes, puzzles, accessories) in zip-top bags.
  • Attach manuals to large baby gear (print from manufacturer site if missing)

Limits

  • Up to 10 pairs of shoes (size 5 or smaller) per seller.
  • Up to 25 clothing items for babies 0–12 months.

Pricing Guidelines & Suggestions

Pricing smartly makes a big difference!

  • Enter your items online by the deadline (Wednesday at Midnight before the sale).
  • Minimum price is $0.50 (increments of $0.50 only).
  • Items marked for discount will be 50% off on Saturday.
  • Mark items with an “X” in the portal if you want to donate them if they don’t sell.

Pro Tips

  • Price items at about 20–25% of retail value.
  • Group matching outfits or sets together to increase appeal.
  • New or like-new items (toys in boxes, unworn clothing) can be priced higher.

Tagging Your Items

Every item must have a printed tag to sell.

If we can’t match a lost tag to an item in our system, it will be placed in our Lost & Found box and held until consignor pickup. Additionally, the sale reserves the right to price an item without a price.

FAQs About Consigner Guidelines

If you wouldn’t give it to a friend, it’s best not to bring it. Clean, current styles and gently-used toys always do best.

Not usually. Clothing that is more than 4 years old tends to stay on the rack. Stick with items that are current, in great condition, and still in style.

You can, but be selective. These are not big sellers unless they are in pristine condition. Try bundling 2–3 together in a zip-top bag to make them more appealing and save on hangers and tags!

The baby section fills up quickly. To keep it shoppable and organized, each consignor can enter up to 25 items in the 0–12 month size range. If clothes are not in good condition, the sale reserves the right to move them to the stained rack.

Focus on clean, modern styles in excellent condition. Matching sets and outfit bundles often catch buyers’ eyes more than single pieces.
